On the relationships between the first flowering day of cherry blossoms and air temperature in Nerima Tokyo, spring season 2023.

Abstract

The author tried to clarify the relationship of flowering and air temperature at Nerima. Tree species to be researched are the well-known Prunus x yedoensis. In 2023 spring season, the first flowering day was 12 Mar at Nerima. It was the 2 days earlier,compared with the cherry blossoms in Yasukuni-Shrine, center of Tokyo. The reason why the early flowering was the breaking of dormancy by lower temperature. Other findings are that old trees tend to bloom earlier
