Abstract

Disaster Response Committee of the Association of Japanese Geographers, established in 2001, engages in various activities through a geographical approach to disasters. Strengthening information sharing via websites and mailing lists is one of our initiatives. Consequently, for major disasters that have occurred in recent years in Japan, we have been able to swiftly provide information by creating emergency pages. However, there are numerous challenges. To implement better initiatives, the entire geographical society needs to establish improved systems with a longer-term perspective.
