Patient: A 57-year-old male patient complained of esthetic and masticatory dysfunction including gingival swelling and occlusal pain. He was diagnosed as severe periodontal disease caused by diabetes. Many of his teeth were extracted and then he was provided with a complete denture prosthesis, which improved esthetic and masticatory rehabilitation.
Discussion: The periodontal disease was treated thoroughly before extracting teeth, and a resin plate was provided for the patient to accommodate the denture. The immediate denture was provided after extracting teeth. The provision of an immediate denture base and occlusal adjustment while the mucous membrane improved was considered to lead to a satisfactory outcome in the final denture preparation.
Conclusion: Careful pre-treatment for this patient who had no experience with dentures yielded a satisfactory outcome, improved the patient’s chief complaint and resulted in successful treatment.
