Abstract
Patient: A 42-year-old female complained of masticatory dysfunction and esthetic disturbance of the bridge in the region from the mandibular left first premolar to the mandibular left first molar. A zirconia-based all-ceramic bridge with porcelain facing by a pressing method was fabricated and cemented. Because the porcelain facing fractured and delaminated after 2 months, the bridge was refabricated with a modified framework and replaced. No prosthetic complications have been observed for 4 years and 3 months after the replacement.
Discussion: It was recognized that zirconia frame design was important to prevent the fracture or delamination of the porcelain veneer.
Conclusion: The altered framework which exposes the zirconia at the previously fractured area of the occlusal surface has achieved a good course.
