Abstract
Patients: The patient was a woman who was 82 years old at the time of initial examination. She visited the clinic with the chief complaint of esthetic problems due to damage to a resin-faced crown in the mandibular front teeth and masticatory disability due to insufficient denture retention and stability. The patient was fitted with maxillary complete dentures and mandibular overdentures with magnetic attachments.
Discussion: A favorable result was obtained using the dentures with magnetic attachments with improved retention and stability and successful esthetic restoration. Also, the use of electromyography as a reference in determining the occlusal vertical dimension at the treatment denture stage contributed to improved masticatory ability with the new dentures, thus improving the QOL of the elderly patient.
Conclusion: The use of magnetic attachments for the remaining front teeth allowed esthetic restoration as well as denture retention and stability, resulting in favorable postoperative progress.
