Upper Konus Krone Denture: a case report with 5-year follow-up

Abstract

Patient: A 66-year-old female presented with a chief complaint of an uncomfortable upper partial denture. Examination revealed a lack of denture adaptation and many previously restored abutment teeth treated with crowns and bridges. Several abutment teeth on the upper jaw were also found to be carious. After setting the provisional restoration and completion of the primary treatment of the upper abutment teeth, the status of the occlusion and abutment teeth was re-evaluated. A removable bridge (Konus Krone denture) was finally applied and followed up for 5 years.

Discussion: A removable bridge was applied because the status of some abutment teeth was assessed as not being strong enough for a fixed bridge.

Conclusion: This case demonstrated that it is important to correctly evaluate the status of each tooth in cases requiring prosthodontics treatment in order to design the prosthesis with an appropriate bite force distribution.
