Abstract

Patient: The patient was a 59-year-old edentulous male. The chief complaints were insufficient retention of a lower complete denture and pain on oral mucosa corresponding to the lower complete denture base during mastication. Since the mandibular alveolar ridge was severely resorbed and the area of immobile mucosa was very narrow, complete dentures were fabricated after utilizing treatment dentures with a flat table with tissue conditioning.

Discussion: Favorable outcomes of the mucosal conditions were obtained because the dynamic impression technique was properly applied using treatment dentures. Oral functions such as chewing, swallowing, and conversation were sufficiently re-established with the treatment dentures prior to the fabrication of final complete dentures.

Conclusion: Satisfactory treatment outcomes were obtained by fabricating complete upper and lower dentures after rehabilitating the patient with a severely resorbed mandibular alveolar ridge by using treatment dentures with a flat table.
