Abstract

Patient: The patient was a 65-year-old male with the chief complaint of masticatory difficulty due to mobility of the upper anterior teeth. After examination, we diagnosed masticatory disability due to mobility of the upper anterior teeth and low retention and stability of the dentures. We finally selected overdentures (complete dentures) to improve the oral function and prevent the loss of teeth and bone.

Discussion: When the abutment teeth are unfavorable, overdentures can improve the crown-root ratio and prevent residual ridge resorption. In this case, the overdentures decreased the load on the abutment teeth and led to a good result.

Conclusion: In the case of partially edentulous patients with unfavorable abutment teeth, overdentures can produce a successful outcome.
