The present paper is concerned with the results of our investigation of the Japanese personal names recorded in following: TRC-MARC, Japan-MARC, JBCAT-MARC databases,TRC-MARC, Japan-MARC, Nichigai Associates authority files, and Japanese Books in Print's author index. There are peculiar characteristics native to the Japanese language, kanji and kana. Considerations of these subjects are important when analyzing Japanese names. Realizing this point, we undertook a survey of this problem and have made clear some actual conditions of the name authority control in Japan.
