Abstract

Joint displays are a common and rigorous method of integrative analysis and presenting integration in mixed methods research. Although joint displays typically appear as tables with text summarizing results, recent innovations have included additional visual features, such as graphs, models, diagrams, photographs, and maps. The purpose of this article is to provide practical guidance for the inclusion of visuals within mixed methods joint displays. It reviews different types of visual features to include in joint displays, examples of each in published literature, and considerations for their inclusion.
