Abstract
The cation exchange method has been used to investigate the distribution equilibria between zinc bromide or zinc iodide complexes and the resin in aqueous acetone solutions. Formation constants of zinc bromide or iodide have been calculated from the distribution coefficients of zinc in aqueous acetone solutions containing 10, 20 and 30v/v% water. In 10v/v% aqueous acetone, βBr1=4.98, βBr2=8.81 and βBr3=11.55 for zinc bromide, βl1=3.97, βl2=5.55 and βl3=7.71 for zinc iodide, and in 20v/v% aqueous acetone βBr1=3.77, βBr2=5.97, βBr3=7.61, for zinc bromide and βl1=2.61, βl2=4.14 for zinc iodide, and in 30 v/v% aqueous acetone, βBr1=2.33 and βBr2=4.07 for zinc bromide.
