When an isopolyanion (MO6O192-) transfers from nitrobenzene (NB) to water (W), the anion rapidly decomposes in W to liberate Mo(VI), which subsequently forms heteropoly complexes with orthophosphate, silicate, arsenate and germanate ions. As an application, a voltammetric sensor for orthophosphate ion has been developed. The sensor shows a current response proportional to the orthophosphate concentration in the range from 0.02 to 0.5mM.
