Synthesis and Crystal Structure of (2-Hydroxy-5-methyl phenyl)phenyl Methanone

Abstract

Benzophenone analogue (2) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction method. The compound crystallizes in orthorhombic space group Pbca with cell parameters a = 5.8820(5)Å, b = 12.1040(5)Å, c = 30.580(3)Å, Z = 8. The structure exhibits intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the type C-H···O.
