Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Complex of Hydrated Nickel(II) Picrate with N,N,N′,N′-Tetrakis[(2-benzimidazolyl)methyl]-1,2-ethanediamine

Abstract

The reaction between Ni(Pic)₂·6H₂O (Pic=picrate anions) and N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis[(2-benzimidazolyl)methyl]-1,2-ethane-diamine (EDTB) in DMF resulted in a mononuclear nickel(II) complex, [Ni(EDTB)](Pic)₂·4DMF. Crystallographic studies show that the Ni(II) ion is octahedrally coordinated to four benzimidazole imine nitrogen atoms and two amine nitrogen atoms in EDTB.
