Synthesis and Structure of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-aminoimidazoline-2

Abstract

The title compound, C₉H₁₀N₃Cl, crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2₁/c, with cell constants a = 7.690(1)Å, b = 8.608(1)Å, c = 14.201(1)Å, β = 101.66(1) and Z = 4. The partially saturated imidazoline ring adopts a half-chair conformation with delocalization of the π-electrons between the C2-N3 and C2-N6 bonds of the guanidine moiety. The strong intermolecular hydrogen bond N6-H61…N3 is observed.
