The crystal structures of (R)-2-phenoxypropionic acid (R-PPA)-2-aminobutanoic acid (ABA) diastereomers were determined, and correlated with their physicochemical properties. The R-PPA molecules have a previous structure, but the enantio-ABA molecules have a novel restricted structure. The molecular-recognition systems show a similar form, except for the orientations of the ethyl groups against the phenyl groups.
