Abstract

The molecular complex between benzyl(decyl)dimethyl ammonium chloride and hydroquinone was formed and the crystal structure was analyzed by X-rays. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with cell parameters a = 18.0835(12)Å, b = 7.0726(5)Å, c = 42.867(3)Å, β = 96.677(4), V = 5445.4(6)Å3, Z = 8. The structural characteristics are essentially the same as those of the complex between benzyl(cetyl)dimethylammonium chloride and hydroquinone, which has 16 methylene groups compared with 10 methylene groups in the former complex.
