Abstract
The title compound, [{Zn(bipy)1.5(NO3)2}(CHCl3)2]n (bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) (3), crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with cell parameters a = 11.0716(11), b = 11.3368(9), c = 11.7081(10)Å, α = 114.607(8), β = 102.658(8), γ = 96.234(7)°, V = 1270.12(19)Å3 and Z = 2. Coordination polymer 3 is characterized by a open ladder framework, based on T-shaped Zn2+ nodes and 4,4′-bipyridine. It contains two chloroform molecules. The nitrate ions are mono- and bidentate-bonded to the zinc ion.
