Synthesis and Structure of 3,3′-[(4-Bromophenyl)methylene]bis-[4-hydroxy-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one]

Abstract

The title compound, 3,3′-[(4-bromophenyl)methylene]bis-[4-hydroxy-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one], molecular formula C₂₅H₁₅BrO₆, M_r = 491.28, crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2₁/c, with cell constants a = 10.256(2)Å, b = 10.2341(17)Å, c = 19.839(5)Å, β = 93.61(2)°, V = 2078.1(8)ų and Z = 4, R1 = 0.0588. The 4-hydroxycoumarins are intramolecularly hydrogen bonded between hydroxyls and carbonyls.
