Crystal Structure of Metformin·ethyl N-(3-tossulfonyl)carbamate

Abstract

The title compound, C₁₄H₂₄N₆O₄S, was prepared by the reaction of ethyl N-(3-tossulfonyl)carbamate with metformin. It was crystallized in the triclinic system, space group P1 with a = 6.894(3)Å, b = 8.323(4)Å, c = 17.184(8)Å, α = 84.119(7)°, β = 84.028(6)°, γ = 75.479(6)°, V = 946.4(7)ų, Z = 2, R = 0.0426. The molecules are linked by two kinds of hydrogen-bonds, N-H…N and N-H…O, generating an extended two-dimensional supramolecular network structure in the ab plane.
