On June 28th-29th, 2024, the 34th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Cardiology (JSNC) was held in SONIC CITY in Omiya, Saitama-city, which is located near Tokyo. There were 196 attendees, including 5 students, in this year’s meeting. We had 3 award sessions, 2 special lecture sessions, 3 symposia, 7 seminars, and 4 oral sessions with 21 presentations.
As a chairperson, I proposed “New Trends in Nuclear Cardiology” as a theme of the JSNC2024 meeting. As many knows, there have been many progresses in this field such as application of artificial intelligence (AI), revival of legacy imaging agents (i.e. 99mTc-PYP and 99mTc-HMDP) with the progress of therapeutic options, newer generation cameras using novel detector materials such as cadmium zinc telluride (CZT), and new tracers. These new trends were reflected by presentations, award sessions, symposia, and seminars. In particular, Dr. Otaki from Sakakibara Heart Institute, who was the winner of JSNC award this year, reported the use of AI for the detection of coronary heart disease (CHD) and prediction of prognosis in such patients based on a large database. Furthermore, Dr. Fukumoto from Nihon University, who was the winner of the young investigator award session, proposed the use of “phase entropy” in gated-myocardial perfusion SPECT for the prediction of cardiovascular events in CHD patients.
In special lecture sessions, Dr. Nakajima from Kanazawa University summarized the utility and problems of currently available AI systems for patient management. Dr. Taki from Kanazawa Advanced Medical Center (KadMedic) made a comprehensive presentation of processes after myocardial infarction using molecular imaging agents.
Additionally, we had a congress party this year, which was very successful, after several years interval due to COVID-19 pandemic.
As such, the JSNC2024 meeting was successfully done with active discussions thanks to all the participants.
Finally, I would like to thank all the participants, speakers, sponsors, and supporting staff members of this meeting for attending and supporting the JSNC2024 meeting. I hope to see you again in JSNC2025 meeting in Nagoya.
