Neurological diseases often cause bladder and bowel dysfunction. Bladder dysfunction depends on the site of neural lesion, i.e., overactive bladder (brain and suprasacral), underactive bladder/urinary retention (sacral and peripheral nerve) and their combination (suprasacral spinal and multiple system atrophy, etc.). Bowel dysfunction mostly is constipation irrespective of the site of neural lesion. Many disorders should be excluded before reaching neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction and proper management.
