Abstract
This study performs in-library book usage survey by using radio-frequency identification system installed bookshelves for two years. We propose four data analytical methods in terms of number of pickups and used times, and apply them to the obtained data. The analytical results suggest (1) there is three times pickup frequency compared with loan; (2) the peak usage time is two to four minutes; (3) the peak pickup frequency and the peak usage time are different, and book usage styles differ depending on season; (4) most of books is pickup only a few times. According to the obtained data and the analytical results, we discuss considerations for book usage survey by using radio-frequency identification system.
