Abstract
Single dose of 2g spectinomycin was injected intramuscularly to 23 male cases with acute uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis.
Disappearance of gonococcus was observed 2.3 days on average after the administration followed by disappearance of micturition pain, leucocytes in discharge and urine and urethral discharge. Relapse was doubted in a case.
No unfavourable side effect was noticed.
Spectinomycin is thought to be useful for the treatment of acute gonococcal urethritis in men.
