Studies on an Antitumor Antibiotic, Cervicarcin. III Taxonomic Studies on the Cervicarcin Producing Organism, Streptomyces Ogaensis Nov. Sp.

Abstract

In the course of searching for antitumor antibiotic using the Ehrlich ascites tumor, we found an effective substance from the filtrate of a new kind of Streptomyces sp. 13-90 which was isolated from the soil collected at Yumoto-machi in Oga Peninsula, Akita Prefecture. We have named it “cervicarcin”, K. Ohkuma, et al.¹⁾ have reported on its isolation and physico-chemical properties and C. Itakura, et al.²⁾ on its antitumor effect. This paper deals with the microbiological characteristics of cervicarcin-producing organism, Streptomyces sp. 13-90.
