Abstract

Histaminase liquid which has been obtained from fresh hog kidney and refined until TABOR'S Step C, was added into histamine liquid and injected into rats, then the gastric gland cells were obser ved. The effects of histamine and of the splitted product of histamine were easily and unmistakably observed in the gastric peptic cells.
When the histamine injected is rich (ca. 3000γ), secretion granules increase copiously after the injection, but secretion vacuoles hardly increase at all after a long incubation interval. In proportion to the decrease of histamine (ca. 1800γ, 1200γ), the production of secretion granules becomes less and, on the contrary, secretion vacuoles increase after the injection. The secretion vacuoles in this case are plainly more than those of the case in which same quantity of histamine was injected.
It is believed that the production of secretion granules (which represent the secretory substance in its first stage) is promoted by histamine and that the vacuolization of the granules (which is the final stage of the secretory substance) is effected by the splitted product of histamine.
