Abstract
During the last three decades, significant efforts such as basic researches and process and product developments of the supercritical fluid (SCF) technology have been made in Korean academia and industries. Here, some noticeable cases of the SCF process developments and production of functional materials with these processes are briefly discussed with emphasis on the commercialization efforts. Discussion includes the large-scale SFE processes and extract products of various natural substances, environmentally-benign SCWO (Supercritical Water Oxidation) process of industrial toxic wastes such as DNT Wastes and melamine wastes, SCF dry dyeing process of Aramid (Nomex) fibers, the SCORR (Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Resist Removal) of the post etch residue in wafer fabrication industry and target-oriented functional material fabrication processes such as inorganic as well as organic nano-scale particles by utilizing SCF media.
