Abstract

  The aim of this paper is to examine recent trends in research on educational social psychology. First, the scope of educational social psychology is discussed, emphasizing the importance of focusing not only on education and interventions conducted within schools but also on those implemented outside of schools, including community-based interventions. Next, research trends in the field are analyzed, with a particular focus on presentations delivered at the 66th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Educational Psychology (2024) and articles published in The Japanese Journal of Educational Psychology between July 2023 and June 2024 (Vol. 71, No. 3-Vol. 72, No. 2). Finally, trends in education and interventions conducted outside of schools and within communities are examined, followed by a discussion of associated challenges and future directions for the field.
