Although Taiwan government had started to promote rural tourism since 1970s, most of tourism was managed by governmental organizations or particular investors, and involvement of residents or communities has not been considered remarkable. In 1999, “The 921 Earthquake” attacked Nantou prefecture, after that, green tourism led by residents was promoted in some rural communities through earthquake disaster reconstruction. This study aims to elucidate the process and disclose how regional resource and site condition affect the style of green tourisms based on case study.
