Abstract
Various telemedicine projects have been implemented in Japanese rural districts since the mid 90s. The telemedicine machine allows a professional to deliber health care to patients at home. This helps people save the time and expense of traditional patient visits; however, the case studies of Katsurao-Village and Sangawa-Town imply that telemedicine programs should start small services might not always be the most effective way to enhance the health of rural residents. Age, family size, and user-friendliness of the machine are significant factors in telemedicine projects.
