Abstract
Ongoing research and innovation in power system stability are crucial for ensuring the sustainability and reliability of electrical power systems. This paper explores the core concepts, current status, future trends, and challenges facing power system stability. Power system stability is a critical element in maintaining the normal operation of electrical power systems under various disturbance conditions, with profound economic, environmental, and social implications. Firstly, this paper introduces the fundamental concepts of power system stability, including static stability, dynamic stability, and associated mathematical models and stability indices. Subsequently, the paper emphasizes the importance of power system stability, discussing its impacts from the perspectives of reliability, economic efficiency, and environmental protection. In terms of future research directions, the paper focuses on the integration of renewable energy, the large-scale interconnection of power systems, and the intelligence of power systems. These trends bring new challenges to power systems, requiring higher levels of stability control and management. Emerging technologies such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and energy storage will play a crucial role in addressing these challenges.
