The intention of this study was to investigate the change of the skill on the squat movement of vaulting horse in elementary school.
Three groups of school children, i.e., superior skilled group (two children), middle skilled group (two children) and inferior skilled group (two children), selected as the subjects. The changes of the skill was studied using of a video camera (30fps). It was convenient to consider the movement of vaulting horse as being composed of five consecutive phases: (l)hurdle step, (2)takeoff, (3)preflight, (4)support, (5)flight (includied landing). In this study, the takeoff was the most critical phase of the vault. During the support phase the superior skilled group thrust against the horse via the hands. These results appear to be connected to become skillfull in the squat movement of vaulting horse in elementary school.
