Abstract
1. The optimal pH for action of animal β-N-acetylgluco-saminidase lies between 3.8 and 4.1. It is not shifted by purification of the enzyme.
2. k1KM+k2KM' of the reaction is constant throughout the whole stages. The monomolecular formula does not hold.
K, KM and KM' at 35°C and Q were 4.398, 333, 208 and 34452. The optimal temperature is 40°C or adjacent to it.
3. The present enzyme is, in all probability, not able to attack β-glucosaminides.
