Although bound cholesterol gives the color reaction of Lieber-mann-Burchard like free cholesterol, the tone and intensity of the color differ between them. The differenc of the color tone is not distinct when relatively large amount of acetic anhydride and small amount of sulphuric acid are used, but the intensity of the color of bound cholesterol is absolutely high compared with that of corresponding amount of free cholesterol.
