Abstract

1. An acid soluble glycoprotein was isolated from the sublingual gland. It was called “sublingual mucoid.” Its carbohydrate grouping was constituted similarly to the corresponding grouping of the acid soluble fragment of sublingual mucin.
2. The mucoid conjugated gelatin to form an artificial saliva mucin.
3. From the facts above, it was concluded that sublingual mucin is composed of sublingual mucoid and a simple protein which involves the glucosamine mannose complex recorded in a previous communication.
