1. The relation of feeding and the age of tumors and rats on the takes and the growth of the transplanted tumors in the rats were studied, leading to the conclusion that the takes of tumors in old rats (7-10 months old) were unaffected by hunger, and that the growth of the tumors generally were somewhat retarded for a short period by underfeeding.
2. The analytical results of the distribution of the fatty substances of the tumors in 3 periods 16-17, 20-22, 25 and more days after inocultation were reported. And the lecithin value was nearly constant throughout 3 periods, while the cholesterol increased with the age of the tumor, so that the ratio lecithin/cholesterol decreased with age.
The cholesterol in the tumor exists mostly in uneombined state.
4. The fatty substances of the tumors did nolo show any appreciable variations when the rat had been injected with cholesterol, lanolin or lecithin or fed on flesh powder.
5. The fatty substances of the blood in the normal and carcinoma rats were determined and the cholesterol content of the blood was evidently higher in the rats injected with chole-sterol and lanolin, but lower in the rats injected with lecithin.
The writer wishes to thank Professor S. Kakiuchi for advice throughout the course of the investigation.
