Abstract
Adenylyl 2, 3-diphosphoglyceric acid iso-lated from blood and chemically synthesized have been studied by various procedures. Both nucleotides have shown the same properties by chemical and enzymatical analyses. It is proposed that it may be called adenosine 5'-pyro'phosphate 2-phosphoryl-3-glyceric acid.
The formation and the degradation of the nucleotide by hemolysate have also been studied. It is postulated that it is synthesized by nucleotidyl transferase and hydrolyzed by nucleotide pyrophosphatase in erythrocyte.
