The molecular weight of M-PhAB-TAA was estimated by sedimentation, diffusion and partial specific volume measurements and also by determination of the amount of PhAB-group bound with the modified enzyme. The value of 36, 000 was estimated by the former method and 35, 000 by the latter.
Alteration of catalytic properties due to the partial degradation of intact PhAB-TAA was examined and discussed in view of changes of kinetic parameters and thermody-namic quantities.
