1. C14-AICA was administered intraperi-toneally to the rats bearing ascites hepatoma, AH 130 or AH 7974, after 2, 4 and 8 hours. Hepatoma cells were collected and homogeni-zed. The cytoplasmic supernatant and the supernatant of sonicated nuclei were analyzed by DEAE cellulose column chromatography.
2. The elution patterns were essentially identical to those of normal rat livers except for the high peak at the cytoplasmic s-RNA fraction.
3. The metabolic turnover of RNA is approximately twofold faster in hepatoma cells than in normal liver cells.
4. Chromomycin A3 inhibits specifically the incorporation of a labeled precursor into an s-RNA fraction.
