Presenteeism among working women and the related factors

Abstract

 The present study aimed to examine the factors affecting presenteeism among working women in Japan. Published articles were searched using Japanese database (“Igaku chuo zasshi)”. Two stages of screening using the following criteria: study population, study design, measurement tool and related factors. We analyzed the extracted articles using evidence tables.  Four articles were extracted, and all were cross-sectional studies. The study populations were care works, nurses and working woman in various occupations. Various questionnaires were used to measure the presenteeism for the labor productivity.  Low back pain, burnout, premenstrual syndrome and organizational factors were identified as related factors of presenteeism among working women. Further studies are needed to examine individual and organizational factors related to presenteeism among working women in order to prevent work performance reduction at organizational level.
