Abstract
Purposes
This study was aimed to clarify the reality of medical college students' views of love by comparing between male and female students.
methods
The subjects were unmarried male and female students of the first and fourth years of university enrolled in A University.
The study design was a quantitative descriptive study. The research period was from July to August 2017, and an anonymous self-administered questionnaire survey was performed.
Results
Valid responses from 262 subjects (valid response rate 89.7%) were included in the study.
Regarding the feelings about romance, 43.9% of males and 64.9% of females chose “Agree” or “Somewhat agree” to “I want to be loved and spoiled by my lover with abandon”.
Regarding conditions for ideal dating partner, 96.5% of males and 98.5% of females chose “Agree” or “Somewhat agree” to“ A person whose personality and values match with me”, and 91.1% of males and 98.1% of females answered“ Agree” or “Somewhat agree” to“ A gentle and kind person”.
Conclusion
It was clarified that both male and female students were looking for a clean and gentle person who has a personality and a sense of values that they want to meet. In addition, it became clear that nearly half of the males were not confident in having a romance, but one-third of both males and females were thinking of marrying a dating partner； therefore, they want to have a romantic relationship on the assumption of future marriage.
