Abstract
Touted as the next big thing in technology, IoT (Internet of Things) applications have increased dramatically over the past years. Although DIY (do-it-yourself) communities have already existed for decades, the advent of information, communication, and media technologies ushered in a growing number of DIY communities with diverse interests. This study takes the DIY approach to building a small-scale IoT-enabled remote sensing system, and identifies the knowledge and skills that learners can acquire.
