Abstract

The color of skin on blueberry changes in dark bluish violet from yellowish green as it matures. The pigment ingredient causing the bluish violet is anthocyanin. It is useful for choice of the suitable kind or cultivation optimization, if we can evaluate the anthocyanin content of the blueberry in a condition bearing fruit. In this study, we irradiated the different blueberry fruit of the maturity degree with the broadband halogen bulb and measured the reflection spectrum from the blueberry surface, as fundamental researches to estimate anthocyanin content non-destructively. As a result of this measurement, it was found that the blueberry absorbs the light of wavelength 675nm. In addition, it was also found that mature blueberry absorbs the light of shorter wavelength than around 600nm.
