Abstract
In 2020, under the influence of a pandemic outbreak of COVID-19, an entire shift from face-to-face class to distance learning made us consider how to keep students’ motivation for English classes. We suppose that one of the keys to motivate students is to utilize English qualification exams such as EIKEN and English technical writing test in the class. This paper reports the effectiveness of distance learning with English qualification exams focusing on the group of middle-level students and shows the importance of continuity of learning, which will lead them to successful result in the next semester in 2021. Especially, motivation for English technical writing test is one of the good examples in terms of continuity.
