Abstract

We hope that the successful students in the entrance examination are in conformity with their schoolwork after their entrance into this college. To pick out manyfitter students, we have picked them out by the total sum of marks of their achievement tests and their school reports sent from their junior high schools. Has this way ever attained our purpose mentioned above? We want to examine this question more deeply and theoretically. In this research, we will analyze the relation between scholarly attainments and achievement tests or school reports from junior high schools by using Person's correlation coefficient, Spearmann's rank correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Then we will recognize the following; (a) A pupil's mark of school report sent from his junior high school is the mark of his ranking in his junior high school but we may regard the ranking as marks for scholarship. (b) When the null hypothesis for the correlation between their achievement tests and school reports is rejected, the sum total of these marks will well predict their scholarly attainments. The calculation in this research is performed by the electronic computer.
