Abstract

The style of English has not been so much concerned about in the teaching of English in Japan. It is true that we have little time to treat the style difference of English in our daily classes, but another reason is that it is difficult to find good materials in style difference. Comparing English Course and American English Course of Linguaphone, we have found various differences between the two courses. Among others, the contrast between elegant formal expressions in English Course and clear informal expressions in American English Course is very impressive and will give us better and easier materials in studying the style difference of the living English language.
