A sealed-off type iron hollow cathode discharge tube has been constructed and its characteristics are studied.The intensity of iron spectrum from this tube is so stable that it is useful as a light source for plate calibration by time-variable method.The calibration curve obtained by this method agrees with that by ordinary two-step method.
Relative intensities of iron spectrum in various spectrum regions were measured and application to line-group method succeeded in obtaining satisfactory results.
