Abstract
Application of glassy carbon electrode to the emission spectrochemical analysis, and especially possibility of the application to the continuous emission spectrometry are studied.
Glassy carbon electrode is easily reclaimed because of its impermeability. In spark discharge, dissipation of the electrode is small, and therefore the electrode can be used over 100 times.
Stable spark is obtained by use of glassy carbon electrode.Since spark column is thick, intensities of the spectral-lines are three times as intense as those obtained by use of ordinary carbon electrode. The impurities in glassy carbon electrodes are not important in the case of spark excitation, continuous emission spectrochemical analysis becomes possible if the rotating disk spark technique is used with samples prepared in liquid phase. It is thought that glassy carbon is only electrode material usable in continuous emission spectrochemical analysis.
