Abstract
This is the interim report on the second ruling engine of the Institute for Optical Research, Kyoiku University.The engine was installed at the institute in 1962. Despite the effort, no success has been made in producing usable plane gratings until a year ago, and the new research group was formed in May, 1971 in order to improve the situation. This paper describes the results of new group's endeavor toward improvement of the engine.
