Application of Inverse Convolution to Correction of Aberrated Band Spectra Recorded with a Seya-Namioka Monochromator

Inverse convolution has been applied to the correction of aberrations in band spectra recorded with a Seya-Namioka monochromator. The aberration-corrected profile of a band spectrum is obtained by convolution of the observed spectrum and the inverse aberration function that was properly interpolated so as to take into account the variation of the slit function with wavelength. The inverse convolution method is evaluated by means of computer simulations and experiments. The results show the usefulness of the method in removing the effect of aberrations from recorded band spectra.
